Andrea Bird - Quicksilver  Founder Member

At the age of 9 Andrea won a scholarship to Tring Park Ballet School and as a young teenager danced with the Royal Festival Ballet in The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty. Knee trouble however put paid to a classical career so Andrea re-trained at ArtsEd and spent fifteen happy years performing in all aspects of professional theatre before co-founding and co-operatively running the Tabard Theatre of New Writing in Chiswick. Married, with two children, and co-author of a play about the Brontes, Andrea has spent the last fifteen years teaching speech and drama to students of all ages in mainstream and theatre schools.

Sadly, since joining Quicksilver and spending two years dancing with us, Andrea has since moved too far away to be able to continue, and will be sorely missed.

Anne Methold - Quicksilver  Sound Techie and Stage Manager

Despite training as a nurse at The Royal London Hospital in the 1960s, I have been continually drawn back over the years into the music and theatre worlds that were my first love. Beginning with helping with music activities at junior schools – choirs, orchestras, clubs etc - and moving on to work in Performing Arts departments, both as teacher and as administrator (spending 5 years trying to keep Guildford School of Acting organised from day to day!) I finally spent several years as production coordinator for a professional musical theatre company, working both locally and in London.

The bug has eventually bitten again and I find myself with Quicksilver – hopefully supporting the dancers with enough sound and light to enhance their excellent presentations. So far – I am loving it!

Lisa Lee (Associate Choreographer)

Lisa trained at Bush Davies School and has performed in a wide variety of shows from ballet and musical theatre to commercial, pop and cabaret all over the world. In more recent years teaching in local schools, choreographing for corporate events and being assistant to the director on Royal Pageants and Tattoos, such as the BAFTA nominated Q 90 at Windsor Castle for the Queen's 90th and most recently Dame Vera Lynn's 100th birthday celebration at The London Palladium . She has been coming to Angela's ballet class for nearly 10 years and says she absolutely loves it!

Carol Norris

At 3 years old I began Dance Classes with Bice Bellairs. At school I took Classes with Betty Vacani and then returned to Bice's School later to train as a teacher of Dance and Drama. I taught both subjects for Bice and also for Guildford School of Acting and eventually took over as Artistic Director of the Bellairs School of Dance and Drama when Bice retired. I had a short break to work in the theatre and for BBC-tv's Blue Peter but I realised that working with real children was what I loved so I returned to teaching until I retired.

I am delighted to be involved with the QUICKSILVER Company.

Erica Greenshields

I sang, danced and costumed my way through school and University, became a spectator whilst pursing a career in Human Resources and looking after two young children but thanks to those children and the inspiring choreographer and teacher Melanie Edwards, I regressed! My place on the back row of Angela Hardcastle's ballet class is jealously guarded and I rarely miss Musical Theatre, Street or Tap with Melanie. I costume the fabulous adults and children of Lee Cooper's FASBAT Musical Theatre Company and I am privileged to be dressing the talented and beautiful ladies of Quicksilver.

Adrianne Gatland (Dresser)

Leaving school a competent pianist, I continued my studies whilst training as a full scale layout and development draftswoman in the aircraft industry. Eventually the piano was to take precedence, with 25 years of teaching at a private school. Meanwhile, renewing a love of ballroom and latin dancing, I was asked to accompany ballet classes. Thus began a life-long interest in the world of ballet, qualifying as a Cecchetti teacher, accompanying and composing for classes over many years. I still play the piano and attend a weekly ballet class.
